Tutorial 1 - How to view import-export records in various display modes

Eximstat simplifys data presention in four easy-to-grasp formats:

Basic View Basic View data presentation format renders information in a simple tabular method. The column headers are loosely presented, that is, they are not grouped under logical parent headers. This is the default data view format. Excellent for quick browsing of records to have overall idea of the data. Data is presented "As Is" or "Raw" from the database without advanced operations/processing. And you may find several, tens or hundreds of records for the same importer/exporter listed within the search period.

Basic View data presentation format can be used in several ways. Basic View Apart from browsing the records, you can filter(search) records by columns or, using the search form, carry out complex search with multiple combinations of criteria, sort records by columns, view records in separate forms. You can as well re-arrange the columns to suit your preferences. Lastly, you can export(save) the records into files on your system
Excel, PDF, CSV record export buttons
- currently only to Excel, PDF or CSV formats are supported.

Notes
  • Depending on the version of your browser, export/save functions may not work as described. Same goes for some old versions of office programs.
  • Particularly, some versions of Microsoft Excel have proved to "mal-function" with address labels. If you experience this, then we'll suggest that in place of Excel you download and use OpenOffice, which we have tested and has proved to handle the address labels as expected - WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get). OpenOffice is a freeware program.

Header Groupings Header Groupings presents data in an easy way to digest. The table columns are divided and binded under several parent(root) headings with common factor. For example, Shipping Info heading consists of data relating to goods transportation: Vessel, Bill of Laden, Incoterms, Packages etc., while information relating to the product itself (Product description, HSCode, Price, Mark, Weight) are presented under the Product Info header. Other possible parent(root) headers used for groupings are Importer Info, Exporter Info, Customs & Excise Info etc.

Simple and Complex Address Labels

Simple and Complex Address Labels

Simple Contact Address Labels present data in an easy way to export the data in form of labels with contact addreses. It uses advanced mail-merge functions of EximStat system. Data can be saved to file and used as stickers for envelopes. This may be useful if you want to send business offers, product catalogs etc. to the postal addresses of selected records. Record uniqueness is observed - that is, importers/exporters are not repeated, an importer/exporter is listed once even if he had conducted many import/export acvitities.
Simple Contact Address Labels data presentation format can be used as labels (stickers) for envelopes and other traditional mailing materials. Contact Name*, Company Name, Postal Code (ZIP), Region, City, Street, House No., Address, Country are combined into a single column.
Complex Contact Address Labels
Thus,
Line 1: Contact Name (if available)
Line 2: Company Name
Line 3: Postal Code (ZIP), Region(district), City, Street, House No.
Line 4: Country
As usual, apart from browsing the records, you can filter(search) records by columns or, using the search form, carry out complex search with multiple combinations of criteria, sort records by columns, view records in separate forms. You can export(save) the records into files on your system.

Complex Contact Address Labels also include additional indicators regarding the company activities, e.g. volume of trade, frequency etc.

Complex Contact Address Labels
Unlike Simple Contact Address Labels, Complex Contact Address Labels may include information such as telephone/fax numbers, contact person title - where available. Complex Contact Address Labels table also consists of additional columns, which may not be necessary for your mailing purposes, but may be helpful in choosing the category of recipients.
Thus,
Frequency (count) displays how many times a particular company records are found in the database for the search criteria, within a particular date range, if specified. The higher the Frequency (count) - the more stable the company has been in her activities within the specified period of time. Another useful addition is the volume of trade, first and last activity dates for each company, which are calculated and displayed as grand total - the sum total values for the company activities within the period and search criteria, within a particular date range, if specified. For example:
instead of Net Weight (kg), we have Total Net Weight (kg);
Gross Weight (kg) becomes Total Gross Weight (kg);
Value(U$) will be Total Value(U$).
etc.

Importer Activity Summary Importer Activity Summary is additional data drill, presented in an easy way to digest. Unlike other sections, there are two tables involved - the master table and the details table. The master table gives the grand summary of an importer/exporter activities within specified criteria or search terms. The details tables present the full list of all the activities.

Importer Activity Summary is presented in two tables - the master table and the details table. The master table lists importers, observing uniqueness - that is, importers are not repeated, an importer is listed once even if he had conducted many import acvitities.

The Frequency (count) column is used to calculate the number of activities a particular company has conducted within a particular date range and for the search criteria, if specified. The higher the Frequency (count) - the more stable the company has been in her activities within the specified period of time.

Also note that values are calculated and displayed as grand total - the sum total values for the company activities within the period and search criteria, within a particular date range, if specified. For example:
instead of Net Weight (kg), we have Total Net Weight (kg);
Gross Weight (kg) becomes Total Gross Weight (kg);
Value(U$) will be Total Value(U$), etc.
Importer Activity Summary
By default all rows of the master table are collapsed, that is, the details table is hidden. You can activate the details table, where you can view all activities conducted by the selected importer within the period. Simply click on the plus (+) icon, located in the far left column - to open/expand the row and see the details table.
The icon will change to minus (-) and a second table (details table) will pop-up, listing all activities conducted by the importer within the period.

To close/hide the details table, do the reverse - click on the minus (-) icon.

You can use the Master table to:
  • Analyse how active an importer had been within the period - Frequncy (count) column
  • Analyse how stable or reputable an importer is - by comparing the First Activity Date and Last Activity Date columns
  • View the total volume of imported goods for an importer
  • Rate importers (top 10, top 50, top 100, etc.) - by sorting the Total Weight (kg) or/and Total Value($) columns in ascending order
  • Export (save) the data to use for address labels (since importers' and contact info are listed once without repeatition)

You can use the Details table to:
  • View the list of all records that belong to an importer, the date of import, hscode, product description etc.
  • Get the average price of imported goods - Average Price ($/kg.) column.
  • View records in separate forms - select the record and then double-click

As usual,
  • To view any record (row) in form format, Select the row and double-click. A form will pop-up with the selected record displayed
  • You can filter(search) records, using the search form, carry out complex search with multiple combinations of criteria, sort records by columns, view records in separate forms
  • You can also re-arrange, hide or show the columns to suit your preferences

Lastly, you can export(save) the records into files on your system
